Veg Steamed Momos

Ingredients Required for Veg Steamed MOMOs:

For MOMOs Dough:

  • 3/4 cups Maida or All purpose Flour
  • 1 teaspoon oil
  • Salt to taste
  • water

For MOMOs Stuffing:

  • 1 tablespoon oil
  • 4 Garlic cloves finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon finely chopped Ginger
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped / grated Carrot
  • 1/2 cup finely chopped / grated Cabbage
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped / grated Capsicum
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped Spring Onion
  • 1 teaspoon Soy Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Chilli Sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black pepper powder
  • Salt to taste

Preparation Method:

In a big bowl and add Maida or all purpose flour, add oil, salt

Mix all ingredients well and prepare a soft dough add water as required.

Cover the dough and keep it aside for 25 minutes.

Heat a pan / kadai on a medium flame add oil in it , add chopped ginger and garlic and saute for 2 minutes.

Add spring onion and saute again for a minutes

Add all chopped veggies (carrot, cabbage and green capsicum) and salt

Mix well and saute them for 5 minutes.

Add chilli sauce, add soy sauce and add black pepper powder

Mix well and saute for a minute again.

Turn off the flame and let the stuffing gets cool down.

Take the dough and knead again for a minute and divide the dough into small equal portions.

Place the small dough on a rolling board and roll it out into a thin disc.

Keep the center portion of the disc little thick.

Place 1 tablespoon of the stuffing in the center (don’t over stuff it or else the potli will not be in a proper shape)

Lift the edge from one side and start pleating / fold the edge a little inside and then outside.

Join them in the center to seal it.

Prepare the shape as per your wish. I have made 2 shapes of MOMOs

Prepare momos from the remaining dough in the similar way.

Now to steam, add glassful of water in a steamer pan (if you dont have steamer you can use a tope pot) and bring it to a simmer on medium heat.

Grease the steamer tray with oil and arrange the shaped momos on it.

Steam them for 6-8 minutes.

Once cooked, it becomes transparent, shiny and by touch it won’t be sticky. (DO NOT OVERCOOK)

Serve the veg steamed MOMOs hot or warm with your favourite sauce / garlic chutney.
