Delicious “Paneer Dum Biryani” – Lip-smacking!!!

Paneer Dum Biryani


For Marination of Paneer:

  • 1 cup Hung curd
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 2 teaspoon Kashmiri chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • 1teaspoon Amchur/Dry mango powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon Kasuri methi
  • 400grams Paneer

How to Cook Basmati Rice? Below are the ingredients:

  • 1 cup Basmati Rice
  • 2 Clove
  • 2 Cardamom pods
  • 1 Bay leaf
  • 1medium Cinnamon stick
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 Star Anise
  • Mace

For Saffron Milk

Saffron Milk
  • 1 tablespoon Warm milk
  • Few strands of Saffron

How to Cook Biryani? Below are the ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoon Ghee/Oil – 2 Tbsp
  • 1 Bayleaf – 1 no.
  • 1small Cinnamon stick
  • 4 Cardamom
  • 5 Clove
  • 2 Onion (sliced)
  • 2 Green chili (slit)
  • 1 teaspoon Ginger garlic paste
  • 2 Tomato (sliced)
  • 1/4 teaspoon Turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon Kashmiri chili powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon Coriander powder
  • Mint leaves
  • Coriander leaves (finely chopped)

Preparation Method:

Soak basmati rice for 20 minutes before start to cook.

Soak saffron in warm milk.

In a bowl add hung curd, turmeric powder, kashmiri chili powder, coriander powder, amchur/dry mango powder, salt, kasuri methi and mix all the masalas very well.

Add paneer cubes and mix gently so that the cubes doesn’t break.

Marinate the paneer for 30 minutes. Keep it aside.

Boil the water in a pot add the soaked basmati rice, whole spices (clove, cardamom, bay leaf and cinnamon), salt, star anise, and mace.

Cook the basmati rice.

Heat ghee/oil in a pot add whole spices (clove, cardamom pods, bay leaf and cinnamon), onion and green chili (slit).

Sauté the onion till it turns golden brown colour.

Add ginger garlic paste, tomato and sauté for about 7 minutes.

Add turmeric powder, kashmiri chili powder, salt, coriander powder, mint leaves and coriander leaves. Sauté for 5 minutes.

Add marinated paneer and cook for about 3 minutes.

Add the cooked basmati rice and spread it properly.

Add the saffron milk, mint leaves and coriander leaves.

Cover it with foil and close the lid.

Cook for about 10 minutes on low heat.

Paneer dum biryani is ready.

Remove some in a pot and garnish it with mint leaves.

Serve it hot.
