Subhas Chandra Bose was born on 23 January 1897 in Cuttack, Orissa Division, Bengal Province. Often called ‘Netaji’ by people, Subhas Chandra Bose led the young, radical wing of the Indian National Congress in the late 1920s and later became the president of the party in 1938.
