SUBEDAR TANAJI DADOJI MALUSARE is TANAJI’S full name { father }- Kaloji Malusare { mother }-Parvatibai Malusare.Tajanji was born at Godoli , Satara 1626.Tanaji Malusare was a military assistant of Maratha King Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and local poet Tulsidas, wrote a powada describing Tanaji’s heroics and sacrifice of life in the Battle of Sinhagad which has since made him a popular figure in Marathi folklore. According to David Hardiman, he came from a Hindu Koli family.

NAME OF TANAJI’S LIZARD :

Tanaji Malusare is the celebrated warrior who is said to have won the battle of Sinhagad in 1670 in which the Mughal was defeated by scaling an impregnable fort with the help of his domesticated Bengal monitor lizard (ghorpad) nicknamed Yashwanti to which they were said to have tied ropes and sent crawling up top to the precipice of the fort. After two failed attempts, Tanaji and his men successful ly scaled the steep hill fortess.

Some Lesser Known Facts About Tanaji Malusare :

Tanaji was a legendary warrior in Maratha Empire. He hailed from Malusare clan and fought serval battels along side Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj . Tanaji is mostly famously known for his valour in the battel of Singhagad in 1670 A.D .

In 1665, as per the Treaty of Purandar, Shivaji had to give up the fort of Kondana (located near Pune) to the Mughals. The fort was considered almost impenetrable as it was one of the most heavily fortified and strategically placed fort.

The fort was commandede by Udyabhan Rathod ,a Rajput warrior ,appointed by Mughals Army Chief Jai Singh I.


Descendants of Tanaji Malusare take objection to release of  Tanaji
:

The descendants of the Maratha warrior Tanaji Malusare have taken strong exception to scenes in the Ajay Devgn-starrer upcoming film Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, they have warned of not allowing the film to release unless “objectionable” scenes are removed as depicted in the trailer. The descendants hailing from 65 villages in Maharashtra have formed an organisation Subhedar Narveer Tanaji Malusare Sanstha last year. They have also sent a legal notice to the film director Om Raut and actor-producer Devgn. The film is scheduled to be released on January 10, 2020.

The sanstha holds various programmes in memory of Tanaji Malusare.

Tanaji was born into a Maratha family. His father’s name is Sardar Kaloji and mother’s name is Parvatibai. He had a brother- Sardar Suryaji. He got married to ‘Savitri Malusare,’ and their son’s name is Rayaba Malusare.

Malusare can be a Maratha clan. It may also be used as a last name in the Koli community. Iravati Karve noted that in the Godavali village of Satara all marathas belonged to this clan. … Tanaji, who used Malusare as a last name, came from the Koli caste.

DEATH OF THE UNSUNG WARRIOR TANAJI MALUSARE :

The battle was fought fiercely and Tanaji was killed by Udaybhan. His uncle, Shelar, took command of the battle after Tanaji’s death and killed Udaybhan. Finally, the fort was captured by the Marathas. Ultimately, the Marathas won due to Tanaji’s bravery and hoisted the saffron flag on the Kondhana Fort.

The fort was captured because of Suryaji malusare Tanaji’s real younger brother after the death of Tanaji in ongoing fight on Kondhana the Maratha soldires were depressed knowing Tanaji’s death marathas were running back leaving the ongoing war Suryaji was the one who cutted the ropes of returning back he said either fight or jump form the Kondhana and die . The great maratha soldires choosed to fight and finally woned the Kondhana Fort .

Veer Shivaji To Tanaji :

The fort was eventually conquered but in the process brave Tanaji was gravely wounded and died fighting on the battlefield. Upon hearing the demise of Tanaji, Shivaji Maharaj was struck with grief and expressed his sorrow by uttering

Eventually, Shivaji Maharaj renamed the fort of Kondhana to Sinhagad in memory of Tanaji.
